Presidential Election 2008: VP Debate

I had neglected this blog, because I have been busy—tending to my career, getting a lot organized in my personal life and so forth. Yet, I had to express myself this evening, in regard to the VP debate. I tried and tried to go to cnn.com to express my feelings…but the comments are moderated.

I am so upset tonight. I am actually crying. I feel odd, because I know and repsect the fact that people have different feelings. Yet, I did not understand how someone can support Palin. I do not understand how the pundits can turn this and spin it to look good for the GOP.

It hurts my heart that people that are not wealthy could vote for McCain. I read both people’s tex plans, and Obama taxes the wealthy—simply because they have enough to give—not because it will make them happy.

It hurts my heart how Palin said during her speech about being selected for mere 5 weeks. No one cares about that—what are you going to do? What is your plan? What is your partners plan for our country? OUr country that you actually live in?

Its so freaking odd that McCain and Palin treat the US like its a place they themselves do not even live in. Obama and Biden treat the world as well as they want it to be treated for them and their family.

The slang talk, the disrepectful tone, the non connection to Americans, the non specifics of a plan, the not understanding McCain’s stances on issues, the memorizing of lines. Its just ignorant.

Leslie Sanchez from CNN is a mental case. She said she would feel comfortable for Sarah leading. Leading who? Kids?

Here is my un-edited version of my view:

We have two teams. One team has a man that has teh judgement to lead. His partner is his equal and more, and together they can help each other be the man to lead this country. They are not perfect, they know this, yet they are for the people. The second team has a man that is no maverick, and he knows this. He is a POW, yet what does that have to do with leading a damn thing? McCain is simply running because he lost to Bush in 2000, and this is and was on his to do list. He knows that he will not be here to live through any rules he makes—so whatever he puts out. He will not be here. He needs to be in a rest home, or on a beach.

Mrs. Palin can not even be discussed on the level of the men above.

No mavericks. No plan.  No McCain/Palin.

You’ve seen the results on other blogs, and here is my commentary—my 50 cent educate people on his secrets of success. I do not admire his lyrics 100%, yet his business sense is outstanding.

On the forbes list of wealthiest celebrities he comes right after Jerry Seinfield…

May he take philanthropy to a new level…

Kimora was the “Missing” IT Factor: Hampton Bays Charity Slump

Above: Workers putting together tables and table centerpieces for event

The Wall Street Journal reported on last week how there is a major slump in the charity curcuit in the Hampton’s. The article featured the Simmons Art For LIfe Event. I am not sure why it was the “featured” charity event, out of a long list of really boring events…but it was featured.

In the nutshell, Tangiw Murray the E. Director of Rush Philanthropic explains how this year people are hodling back their money in regard to buying tickets and etc…the event. She explained how years before people never asked about discount tables and etc…She also ecxplained that fewer people came out and etc…

Well, I attended the gala, and oddly the missing link was the celebrity factor. Also the type of host for the event was just not right. It was Soledad O’brien. While she is very professional, an event at Russell’s is expected to be unconventional, and flashy, yet meaningful, and uncut—unforgettable. Yet, the host was typical, and the celebrities and honorees were not enough to bring in the bucks. I thought the most interesting people at the event were Patrice and Precious…yet many did not know who they were at the event.

Anyways, overall Kimora would have made an unforgettable evening. Yeah, she would have.

So in short, my advice on ANY charity event for next summer in the Hamptons:

1-Host needs to reflect the crowd, and keep them interested.

2-Awardees need to be “stars” in their field…the bigger the name the better…

3-Once the star has agreed to show and accept their award…massive marketing needs to be put out there to let people know who will be getting an award.

4-The auction items this year were AWESOME! It would have been so cool to get these items advertised or seen on Good morning today or etc…

These are my thoughts…

On a personal note, this summer I am doing a very small house gathering and featuring the Love Heals organization. The event will have 5 of my good friends, and I will of course take donations in the comfort of my home, and send a check to the organization. All taking place outside of the Hamptons, but making change.

Diddy Did Not End His Tour-Press Play: Wendy & Omarosa Did

The hype to me over the Wendy Williams and Omarosa interview could have been a part of Diddy’s Press Play tour. I watched the interview yesterday, and everything in the interview appeared scripted and “reality” like. Its a great business move for both party’s involved, with CNN picking up a lot from the story…so great jobs to both of these women.

However, I am thinking both parties could have been a little more creative with their overall goals withe the show…Omarosa needs to promote her book, and Wendy needs someone to buy her show. I could see why Wendy could let this pass in judgement, howeverf, Omarosa…I can see why she has been fired by Donald several times.

This all is just not making good business sense…and Omarosa should have known better.

Wonder How He Feels: Obama Overseas

In the media we have seen pictures of Sen. Obama in many different countries…talking, paying respect, and explaining to many his goals and plans for the US and our affairs with other countries. I quitely look at the pictures which display a million words…and I wonder how does he feel? How does he feel that he is opening up many doors for many—not just people of color abroad, but people that somehow felt left out of global affairs…until now?

CNN presents” Black In America”

I have recieved many emails from people of all walks of life telling me to watch CNN’s , ” Black In America”. Of course I will record it! I think its great for a media outlet to show this documentary, and I would like to say this although I am not even sure if its appropiate to say…but oddly it feels good to live in America where a media giant such as CNN has dedicated some of its air time to dedicate to helping the black race open up closets in our communities in which we have only cared about. I know our issues as a people are far from over…yet it feels good.

By the show taking place on CNN—it feels as though CNN gives a damn about the black race. It feels as though even though the issues discussed effect only blacks…that people of all races will now know our issues and its an American problem, and no longer a black problem.

What do you guys think?

Never UNDERestimate A Meticulous Star: Kanye Blog’s Back

Kanye is too cute and funny! I saw this on a bloggers site today, and then went to check out the up roar about a ghost blogger he is supposed to have :) Its funny how he has managed to establish himself as star, but not a heartthrob? Business-wise, I think this was a fab idea…so he is ageless.

I love this man as an artist, and I am actually glad he gave a damn about himself to go after his dreams, in returned he has served the world.

I really think he uses his public-arrogance as a personal self-esteem lift, I believe if he did not—e may be prone to drugs or low self-esteem. Besides, he teaches us if we dont give a damn about ourselves…who will? It first starts with ourselves. As talented as he is…I really doubt he is free from being alone, and deep artistic episodes of melancholy.

The thing about Kanye is…his fans know this…he knows this, and we are all cool with it all…we live as humans, and he takes from our lives and his life and creates art in music, designs and overall art…and it in turn helps us all. This makes him great, and his admirers even greater…we are his muses!

Anyways, with all of the world hating and loving this man, I think he is special, and most likely good people and a hard worker.

Understated Superstar: San Francisco’s District Attorney Kamala Harris

San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris was featured on Good Morning Today in Denver this am. She held a press conference , informing the public about a serious situation in SF, where an IT worker has sabotaged the IT system of the city, by not giving poilce the password of the city’s IT system. Its an odd situation, making me wonder how the man got in the position in the first place, to have that much power to govern over the city’s IT system. Howevver, after listening to Ms. Harris statement and ongoing efforts to get to teh bottom of the situation ( not to mention the bail and bond for the man), I was like seems like Ms. Harris and mayor Newsome, amongst others, are working hard on this situation.

This in turn nevertheless, brings me to Ms. Harris. She has such an amazing background, and she has worked very hard to get where she is. I first read about her last year, when I read about her taking some time off from her day job to help out the Obama campaign. I really admired her passion for the campaign, and I read up about her and saw how she made it to where she is currently. She graduated from Howard University, and received her JD in 1990 from the UC university system. In a nutshell, Ms. Harris worked her way up, she served as a DA in a smaller CA city, and then made her way to SF. and the rest is history.

When you have time, read up on this Understated superstar, I am pretty sure we will here so much more about her in the near future!
